Lent.. a season of renewal

Lent2021_final.png

Join St Vincent de Paul as we enter the Lenten season with a goal of increasing our practice of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, seeking God’s help to strengthen our own ability to grow in virtue.

Lent is not a means unto itself, but rather a time to prepare ourselves for the celebration of Christ’s triumph over death through his glorious resurrection on Easter Sunday. Easter is the pinnacle of the Church’s liturgical year, because the resurrection of Jesus is what gives us hope for our own resurrection on the last day.

Jesus teaches about fasting, prayer and almsgiving (Mt 6:1-18) and how they enable us to express our conversion. The path of poverty and self-denial (fasting), concern and loving care for the poor (almsgiving), and childlike dialogue with the Father (prayer) make it possible for us to live lives of sincere faith, living hope and effective charity.

If you feel called to do more in your outward expression of faith during Lent, please visit our webpage to learn more about how you can get involved in serving those in need right in our community:
